From a Plant Museum press release:
The Henry B. Plant Museum will supply canvas (recycled window shades) and paper to those who want to participate. Be inspired by the magnificent architecture and beautiful grounds surrounding the former Tampa Bay Hotel. Local artists will be on hand drawing and painting on the veranda and in Plant Park across the street. You will be able to watch them create works “en plein air” a French expression that means “in the open air”. It was particularly used in the 19th century to describe the act of painting in the outside environment rather than indoors. We encourage you to bring lunch, coolers, chairs and blankets to picnic in Plant Park. If your preference is indoors, visit the Museum and discover the opulence and grandeur of the Victorian era.
4 p.m. – Wayne W. and Frances Knight Parris Lecture by Dr. Martin Eidelberg, prof. emeritus of art history at Rutgers University: Art and Crafts Pottery, What’s in a Name? at the Museum of Fine Arts.
