39th Annual Raymond James Gasparilla Festival of the Arts Official Call to Artists

As one of the top-rated outdoor fine art and craft shows in the country, the Raymond James Gasparilla Festival of the Arts invites artists to apply for the prestigious 2009 show that will be held in downtown Tampa March 7 - 8. Traditionally, this annual event is held the first weekend in March but Tampa’s role as the host city for the 2009 Super Bowl required the temporary date change, requiring the event to be held second weekend in March.

The deadline to apply is Sept. 30, 2008. For application information, visit the festival’s web site at www.gasparilla-arts.com; for more information, email inquiries to gasparillaarts@yahoo.com.

Each year a select number of accomplished artists and rising stars from around the globe are chosen to participate in this celebrated show. These remarkable artists will vie for what is considered among the country’s leading cash awards, including the coveted $15,000 Raymond James Best of Show Award and an additional $52,500 in prize money.

More than 300 national and international award-winning, acclaimed artists, typically chosen from more than 1,000 applicants, will exhibit their original works throughout Lykes Gaslight Square Park and along Franklin Street in downtown Tampa. Estimated crowds of more than 250,000 art enthusiasts of all ages enjoy world class art, free musical entertainment, special exhibits featuring new and emerging artists and more throughout the weekend. Representing more than 11 different mediums, participating artists enjoy amenities that include an artist’s welcome dinner, hospitality center, light meals and refreshments, booth-sitting services and near-site parking.

On Saturday, March 7, a nationally respected juror with experience in a variety of media will review the displayed artwork and make final decisions prior to the awards ceremony held that same day.

Recognized for bringing the very best fine arts and fine crafts to patrons, the 2009 Raymond James Gasparilla Festival of the Arts marks the 39th anniversary of this traditional arts festival.
