ArtHouse3: Folk Art Revisited

September 14th, 2008 · No Comments

For those who don’t know, South Tampa resident Katherine Gibson has periodically transformed her home into a temporary gallery space for the past few years. Add friends and neighbors, guest artists, hors d’oeuvres and … you get the picture.

From Kathy’s email about the latest installment of ArtHouse3:

Come see a diverse group of folk art this Thursday from 6 to 8 pm www.arthouse3.com @ 3709 W. Barcelona St. or make an appointment anytime through October 9 (813-831-8858).

Folk Art Revisited! To kick off the Fall 3rdThursday lineup, ArtHouse3 is collaborating with Jeanine Taylor of Jeanine Taylor Folk Art (Sanford) for the September 18 3rdThursday event - see invite www.arthouse3.com. Most of the pieces featured will be coming from Jeanine’s wonderful, whimsical, colorful inventory.

Jeanine and I first worked together in 2002 when we organized FolkFest: Ruby and Friends in the former Matthews Gallery space on Hyde Park Avenue. Many of you stopped in to meet artists, buy produce from local folk artist Ruby Williams and sample Mise en Place’s fried green tomatoes. Last year Jeanine and I put together a curated gift shop show for the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Pete in conjunction with their impressive folk exhibit, ‘Florida Collects Folk Art’.

Take a look @ Jeanine’s website, www.jtfolkart.com and let me know if you see pieces you’d like me to select for our September 18 3rdThursday event (if they’re still availble…).
