Friday, May 16

6-9 p.m. – Opening reception for Art for a Cure, featuring Carolina Cleere, Lori Ballard, Emily Page, Jack Breit, Donna Morrison, Rick Reeves, Caleb, Jason Fondren and others, at La Maddalena townhomes, 3834 W. Platt St., Tampa. A portion of the sales of artwork will benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

7-9 p.m. – Opening reception for Mysterious Clarity, paintings by Ray Burggraf, Lilian Garcia-Roig and Mark Messersmith, Gulf Coast Museum of Art. Read the See & Do Pick in Creative Loafing.

7-9 p.m. – Opening reception for Tampa Bay Surface Design Guild: Surfacing; Luminous: The Works of Jan Boyer; and Connie Lippert: Navajo Wedge Weave; Dunedin Fine Art Center.

7-9 p.m. – Opening reception for From Inside to Out, paintings and drawings by recent MFA graduate Katherine Barnes, Centre Gallery (on the USF Tampa Campus in Marshall Center Room 102). cancelled

8-11 p.m. – Art After Dark: The Art of Spoken Word, spoken word artists Lizz Straight, Ryan B., Krystle Wit a “E”, Daytime and Monae, will perform throughout the evening, Tampa Museum of Art.

Saturday, May 17

10 a.m.-4 p.m. – Art for a Cure continues

8 p.m.-12 a.m. – ARTpool Art Party with audio art by Lunar Flower Collective and The New Math, and visual art by Marina Williams, Aubrey Bramble, BlueLucy, Jon Hobbs, Emiko Oye, Alyssa Doren and many others, $10, 919 1st Avenue North, St. Petersburg. (An after party continues at Bambu, Baywalk, until 2 a.m.)

Sunday, May 18

2 p.m. – USF Public Art Presentation by Vincent Ahern, USF Contemporary Art Museum, at the Tampa Museum of Art. The Tampa Museum of Art will be open this Sunday, May 18, from 1 - 5 p.m. in recognition of International Museum Day.

6-8pm – Sunday In the Arts, a one-night exhibit and silent auction for charity hosted by Las Damas de Arte, Ritz Theater, Ybor.

AND - This month’s Dead Reckoning, an informal creative forum hosted by Experimental Skeleton, falls on Monday, 5/19, at 19:00 hours—that’s 7 p.m. civilian time.
