Robert Stackhouse, an internationally known artist who lives St. Petersburg, will pay a visit to the stage at The Water Is Wide, the Studio@620’s multidisciplinary look at the art of boatbuilding. Joined by his wife and collaborative partner, Dr. Carol Mickett, Stackhouse will discuss the influence of boat hull forms on his art (says the Studio’s website) Friday evening.
If you’re not familiar with Stackhouse’s work, just wait a month or two. In 2008, he’ll have shows at St. Petersburg’s Arts Center (Jan 18-Feb 24; focus on site-specific sculpture and installation), the University of South Florida’s Contemporary Art Museum (Jan 11-Feb 23; focus on prints), and Lakeland’s Polk Museum of Art (now-March 3; sculpture and painting).
